HP DeskJet 2655 All-in-One Printer Reviews– Today, however, the industry is different. Even the cheapest printers on the market offer features that just a few years ago would have been found exclusively on high-end printers.
In the right environment, cheap printers can often perform just as well as advanced models. There are, however, compromises. When doing your research, make sure that a printer’s design matches the purposes you intend to use it for, or you may end up being disappointed.

In this review we take a look at the HP DeskJet 2655. On paper it seems that it has a large broad functional area and is suitable for a variety of applications. We’ll go in hand to see what it can do, so we’ll help you decide if this printer should have somewhere in your home office.

This is not the lowest endemodel in HP Deskjet setup. This position is held by DeskJet 1112. However, given the additional features of this model we thought that it would make the perfect input level printer.

HP DeskJet 2655 Design and layout

Although 2-series DeskJets are considered lower than 3-series models, we actually think the design is a little better. The printer’s top is conical as you move down the chassis, reducing the footprint on your desk. Although the case is mainly white, the scanner cover sits on top of a slightly built-in chassis that is tinted vividly blue. Although subtly, the effect is certainly eye-catching.

On the back of the printer you have the tray for glossy paper, and finished jobs come out on the front. A button and LED Control Panel are located to the left of the printer with a small LCD display above it that shows the current print settings. This control panel is sleek but easy to use. All core features are available with the push of a button, so you won’t dig through the menus to find the function you want.

HP DeskJet 2655 Setup procedure and Communication

printers (especially cheaper) are known to be frustrating to create. But when we got our DeskJet 2655 started, we were pleasantly surprised. The whole process was painless and can be completed even if you do not have very technical ability. All you need is a smartphone.

When you first start the app, it will ask to turn on WiFi (if it’s not already on) and start searching for the printer. Since DeskJet 2655 uses a technology called WiFi Direct, it will broadcast its own wireless network. Your phone scans the air waves one by one until it finds the printer. Once it has found your printer, you will be asked to select your current wireless network from a list and enter your password. This data is transferred to the printer and it logs in to your network. From this time, all your computers (running Windows 7 and up, or OSX Mountain Lion and up) will see the printer in their device list automatically.

Don’t have a smart phone? You can still connect this printer via a standard USB port. The cable is not included, but you can choose once cheaply or use the cable from your old printer. HP provides you with a downloadable installation wizard that can be easily run on each computer in your home network.

HP DeskJet 2655 Printing

This printer supports all the paper types you want to use at a basic Home Office, and produces a good-looking color printer. You can use both letterhead and legal, and the printer also supports direct feed # 10 envelopes. For Photos supports the 4 × 6, 5 × 7 and 8 × 10 print sizes. Although edge-to-edge printing is not available, the margin is small enough so that the printouts still look good.

Black and white documents print in about 6 seconds, while full-color images can take up to a minute. However, this is advantageous. Most entry level printers sacrifice quality for speed. But DeskJet 2655 is another animal. When you use proper photo paper, the printouts look surprisingly good. We would be happy to give them on our walls, which is not something we can say about most similarly priced printers.

Another advantage is the instantaneous tørblæk. You can handle your printouts the other as the printer spits them out. You don’t have to worry about getting ink on your hands or smudge your photos when you’re curious to see what you’ve created.

This printer requires only two cartridges. The black cartridge is used in all printouts, while the tricolour is used only for the color printer. You get just over 100 pages with each cartridge, with the cost from 10 cents per side (for B & W) to 13 cents per side (for color).

HP DeskJet 2655 Scanning and copying

Although this is primarily sold as a printer, scanning and copying features are delivered as a bonus. Despite this, they still seem surprisingly good. The scanner works at 600 dpi. This refers to the level of detail (dots per inch) that it can record. For scanning documents, it works perfectly. If you are scanning to Microsoft Word, you can use OCR (optical character recognition) to convert an image of a document into an editable file.

You can scan something, make a few changes, and print it again with your changes in place. OCR is not perfect. Once in a while, a capital “I ” will be read as a lowercase letter “L. ” But in our tests we could scan a document, run a quick spell checker and have a perfectly editable version of the file on our local system.

The scanner also works well for photos. If you scan a photo and reprint it, there will always be a small quality loss. After all, it is not a dedicated photo scanner. However, if you scan hard copy photos to send online, the resolution is perfect.

HP DeskJet 2655 Cons

This is one of the most economical all-in-one on the market, but it is important to consider the cost of printing. If you print high volumes, the cost will quickly add up. HP offers ink subscription packages in monthly quantities of 50 pages, 150 pages and 300 pages. If you print uniform quantities, this is the most affordable way to get ink. If your paper is used in unpredictable, then it is better to buy the individual packages. However, if you regularly print over 300 pages a month, then this printer is not such a good buy. If you double the cost of the printer, you can reduce the price per page by nearly 80%. If you are printing high volumes, we recommend that you keep away from this printer.

If you regularly need a printer but haven’t been able to pull the shutter, we can’t recommend HP DeskJet 2655 enough. The purchase price is as low as it gets, and the quality is not compromised. In addition, you get the benefits of being able to scan and copy documents. There are a few entry level models that have poor quality scanners, but that’s not one of them.

If you want to see the real benefit of this printer, just look at the print cartridges. You will notice that they are a fraction of the price of most. Cost per page on print is comparable to most other inkjet printers, but these cartridges have low volumes-only 100 to 120 pages per cartridge. The ink cartridges may dry out after 3 months or so. So if you don’t print a lot and you buy $50 cartridges that can produce 500 pages, you won’t be able to use the entire ink until you run out.
